New Year's Day

 My New Year's Makeup!

Last year on New Year's was spent on London Bridge where all the main focus point is to see the Fireworks on the new beginning of a new year. But it is not of a very good decision although it was full of excitement when we were planning on going for that event, as it was so packed with people and in addition of standing at the wrong side of the River of Thames which our sight were blocked by the building. Yea being excited for nothing really, as the walking distance were all made longer and further as of the amount of people who were standing and waiting since like 6pm and drinking marathon at early afternoon. Talking about patience and determination.

So this year I decided to have a different way of celebration with a couple of people which I care about that is my cousin and Ernest. It was a different way of celebrating too, as it was not with champagne or wine or any fancy smancy dinner or supper, but just have fun with lots of talking and catching up, watching anime and korean drama and beauty mask time and lastly laughing as there is no tomorrow kind of day. Which I enjoy most of the time when i am with my closed ones, that is usually what we do anyway.

That went my New Year's Eve, time passes really quickly then. On the next day, after the long rest we get on to our next plan on New Year's Day, that is to make Pineapple Tarts which turns out to be a great achievement and totally much better than what we expected and lots of appraisals from my colleague, thanks to Regina and the internet that all this is made possible! The recipe is really simple and easy to make and follow. Although we don't have any measuring scale or equipment, we do it the traditional way "agak-agak okay la" (what you feel is enough then its enough). That's how my grandma taught me on how to make curry or any dishes that she makes and its surprisingly tastes, amazingly superb. But varies based on her mood on that certain day and time. Fun times :D

We took around 8 to 9 hours to finish the whole procedure which i find it quite a great way to pass my new year as it was full of fun and laughter which we just sing, talk loudly, just basically be there for each other as a listener, advice giver, talk about whatever that's in our mind and just be ourselves. Then the second part of the day was, the Huat Kuih that we decided to try out which are the unspoken of as it was a total disappointment and it reminded me of a picture in facebook that were spread around on "expectation and reality" quote. Yea, that is basically what we went through.... OKAY let's just leave it there and get on to the next thing.

Blended Pineapple

Thickening process of Pineapple Jam with added sugar

The melted Butter mixed with egg yolk and condensed milk

Plain Flour

The kneaded dough (from the mix and flour)

After hours of thickening the blended pineapple! TA-DA!

End results of the dough with the pineapple jam fillings!

All ready for the heated Oven!

Baked and cooling down the Pineapple Tarts!

Second batch

After that just to lazy to keep track of how many batches but this is the ending process which is putting it into containers after cooling it down

Egg with special fattening recipe that includes smoked salmon, soft cheese, salad cream, spring onion and lime juice! Made by Ernest

With Caviar as the toppings! YUMMEH!!
(My close-up picture makes the caviar look like a big bunch of grapes)

After a tiring almost a full 3 quarter of our day spent on baking, we get on to the next plan which is the beauty makeover for Regina as she is a really go natural kind of girl. It was fun but we decided to do so at 12am in themidnight, which I was hesitant at first whether we should get on with the beauty makeover, but it was a good choice that I did the makeover! Even taught her how to put on circle lenses that turns out very hard at first but later she succeeded! YAY give her some brownie points for upgrading her level on beauty!

I'm so glad that Regina stayed over and decided to celebrate her New Year's Day with me for the second time on my stay in London. Love me some close family time and nothing beats being with the right person at the right moment, because I actually thought it is just going to be me and Ernest for Christmas and New Year's.

Until the next post!

Love,
Joey xx
